i've got the same one from brs. think i spent20 -30 on sale. had a much more expensive sybon crap out under 6months (it was babied never droped) both were made overseas by no name people. there is only one moving part in a refractometer. the graph. it slides on a rail. the set screw holds it place. all the fish companies are buying junk from overseas and reselling it. none offer a warranty. good luck even finding an address or phone # the seal around the glass is where the problems occur. get water in any refractometer and it rusts/gets blurry.
