well my tank with halides was getting up to 81 maybe 82 degrees. everyone was fine but i want to keep it more stable. after some research i really liked the tunze fan but for $70 plus i went to lowes. they had this 9inch dual fan for $35. kinda overkill and huge and ugly and sticks out. haha. but this should just be for the next couple of months, mounted it on the wall and plugged it in the halide timer. didnt get over 80 degrees today tops maybe closer to 79 so ill see how it ends up working. any thoughts or suggestions are always appreciated.

Pedro,
Tank is looking good! A fan is a great mod to lower your tank temp. Just make sure you have top off water ready. You will start to see considerable evap. With the evap, you will have to monitor your sg pretty closely. Great job!

cool, but definately get an ATO. just another piece of equipment for the SUMP!!jk tank is coming along very nicely.

Plug it into a controller with a temp probe and only have it come on when the temp goes above 80 degrees. That will keep things even MORE stable.

well i did run into a bit of a problem the thing has buttons to set on medium low or high. there is no real on off switch so since i put it on with the halides timer it wont just turn on. it will turn off. but it does me no good if im not here to turn it on. ugh, now what.???

plug a power strip into your timer, on that power strip plug in your halides and your fan. leave the fan on high and when your lights come on your fans come on. or am i missing something?

I think the switch is electronic so that when the power is removed at the plug you have to go back and hit the "œOn" switch. Need to get a fan with a manual on-off selector switch.

gottcha that makes sense now. if you wanted to get crazy and hack wires, im sure there is a way to bypass the switch. but i would prob return to store and find a lower tech fan.
