added my first fish!

within seconds of adding 5chromis to my qt, they are already attacking the copepod population!

Really? Sounds strange I havent heard of this. Just toss in some flakes, there veracious eaters, the 2 I have are like little jet fighters

ya i put a couple of copepods in the qt a while back and their numbers exploded and chromis began eating them right away when i introduced the chromis

saddly they all died today!
maybe my params were off............must have something to do with the bio balls in the aquaclear
next time i know what to do, big water change, and run carbon before buying fish

Your water parameters must have been terrible. Damsels and chromis are the fish that people (mistakenly) use to cycle their tanks. They are very hardy fish. Please be sure to check water quality before adding fish. The large pod population should have been a hint at water quality. If it is a QT (especially an empty one) there should be no (or few) nutrients, thus a low or not exsistant pod population.
