Adding 2 more tangs to the 4 I already have

I trust what people advise me here, but i have to tell you my 4 tangs are super comfortable in the tank. I wish i had a video to show how much room they have. My tank only has the tangs, 2 clownfish and 3 tiny chromis so the tangs pretty much own the tank. But if everyone suggests to stop, i'm done adding tangs :)

Sir, have a cookie. :)

I'd just like to say its a bit refreshing to hear of somebody (particularly, somebody new to the forum) who asked for advice, got advice, and actually took that advice to heart. Rather than asking for advice, getting advice, then spending the next 3 pages worth of posts arguing about how the overwhelming majority of that advice must be wrong. ;)

Thank you.

haha thanks!

I admit I know nothing about reef tanks, I just got into the hobby and I'm here to learn. In a way I'm glad the advice has been pretty much consistent as opposed to 5 people telling me not to add tangs and 5 saying it's ok. I guess I will shift my attention to corals now lol

I'd like to rephrase my question but i have a feeling the answer will remain the same: since i have 3 tangs and a foxface (initially i said 4 tangs), can i add some other fish the size of my foxface? As you guys can see, i'd rather have the bigger size fish and let them roam around as opposed to 2-3 big fish and many little ones like clownfish, chromis etc

Thanks again for all your inputs, i really appreciate all your advice

If you add too many fish residing in the same ecological niche in a tank that has insufficient territory and/or algae for grazing you will eventually induce aggressive behavior. Also, foxfaces are not coral safe if inadequately fed since they will eat the zooxanthellae in the corals. Your choice.

I feed them 2 frozen cubes per day plus i have 2 seaweed clips in there. So far so good, im just nervous i under/overfeed them since im so new at this

Basically, it is not a good idea. But if you do it, and I suspect you will, I will ask Dino to take back his cookie.

I would listen to Snorvich on this he has 40+ yrs of reef keeping experience and is the resident fish and disease expert without question. Anyone with a Team RC logo wasn't handed that because they gave out bad info or didn't know what they were talking about...

For my tangs (Powder Blue, Yellow, Purple and chevron) and fox face in my 320 gal tank, all seem OK except the PB seem a little stressed. He is eatting well and fat but he patrol the tank and keep theother tangs in line. For the last year his L scapel stuck in the up position becaus eof his clash with the foxface. I wish I did not added him into my tank because I want all my fishes to be hayyp and stress free.
I hae 3 feeding stations for the tangs. Add a total of 1.5 Nori sheets perday (that is the full 8X8 sheet nori for human consumption.
I think I am tang (and fox face) out for my tank.

I can understand the appeal of large fish but too many and the tank starts looking crowded. You also need to consider nutrient export. Big fish eat big and poop big. You need to make sure you are able to handle the nutrient load in your tank or your water quality may suffer and you end up with a tank with all kinds of problems which can get discouraging. Since you are new to all this take things slow. Make sure your system can handle what you already have. If you decide to add larger fish in the future, consider fish that are not algae grazers since you already have 4. Too much competition for the same food source will cause aggression and as Snorvich said may cause your foxface to turn to corals. Maybe consider something along the lines of genicanthus angels or other planktivores. For medium size fish look at the fairy and halichores wrasses. Some real beauts there and very interesting to watch. Lots of different choices out there. Just do your research before hand.
Good luck.

+1 I'm surprised on a daily basis by how much experience he has.
