adding a 3rd halide over center brace on 120g?

I am currently using 2x175W CV ReefLux 12K's, and i am wondering if it is worth it to add either a single 25oW or 400W over center brace?
i know the brace would break up light to either side, but would it still be worth it to add some watts to upper sides of tank for sps?
Would i have to worry about it melting the brace?

I don't know.. It almost seems like it would be a big waste of energy. For all that might as well just put 250w's up.

Is there a way you can remove or thin that brace out? I have read of people replacing it with acrylic.

yeah, i'm not looking to swao it out.......i was thinking it might be better to run just 2x250W, but i just got new bulbs for my set-up?
