Adding a pair of b/w clownfish with an existing b/w

I was wondering if it was possible to add a mated pair of black/white clownfish into a 55 gallon tank with an existing b/w clownfish. The mated pair are 2-2.5 inches and 1.5 inches. The existing one is around 2 inches. Thanks in advance!

Chances for it ending well are very very low. I would advise dont do it. Why do you want two pairs of the same kind of clowns?

Sorry for the confusion. I don't have a pair in my tank already. It's by itself and I was thinking of adding one more, but found a guy that is selling a pair for $55. Figured it was a good deal since my first one cost me that much. With a low chance is there any methods of this working or should I just give up on the idea?

You could buy the pair and trade the existing one to the lfs.

if your gonna add one do it. if your gonna add a pair dont do it because it might take longer for the clowns to pair off; because one of them is always going to be in the way im not saying it wont happen but il take longer.

No the dominant female will just kill the other female.

I'd buy the pair and sell/trade your existing one. Having 3 in a 55g tank is asking for trouble.

Sigh, I was afraid of this. Haha. Such a great deal. I can't get rid of my first one because it was a gift from my gf as my first fish. Would it be okay to just seperate the pair? Or is that just another idea that's not recommended?

We do become attatched to our first fish! I still have mine. You could seperate the pair but i wouldnt. You can usually find a small black and white for pretty cheap. I saw one the other day at petco for 15 dollars.

Which petco? The petcos around my area only have freshwater fish I was I was near your area. So I found out that the pair is not a mated pair but are close. Does this change the equation at all? Either way thanks for your input guys. All of this is so new to me.

All three petcos here in albuquerque new mexico mislabel them and sell them really cheap. You really could just ask the guy to sell the male to you. How long has your clown been in your tank without other clowns around?

It's been in there for a month and a half. My tank I have for close to three months. Jeez my first clownfish cost me $60. You have it lucky there.

Yeah the thing is I dont take advantage of that I dont have any black and white clowns. How big is your clown ? It might not be a female yet so you might be able to buy the female. Do you have any pics?

Edit: nevermind about the size part i just read the first post again... sorry its been a long day haha. Yeah if its two inches you would want to try to get the male to be safe.

Thanks again for the help. I guess I can try it out and if it doesn't work I can keep one in my sump till I upgrade or just trade them in at my lfs. Going to wait till the weekend and if he still has it this weekend Im going to try it out.
