Adding another clown

I have a mated pair of ocellaris clownfish. I've had them for 6 months but they are at least 5 years old and were previously in fish only tank. I have a green bubble tip anenome and they will not even look at it. I'm thinking about adding a third clownfish, maybe a cinnamon one. They are in a 75 gallon with a green chomis a fire fish a blenny a diamond goby and CUC. I'm not worried about breeding , would there be any problems adding another clown.

First off it should be noted that it really is hit or miss whether an anemone and clownfish will enter into the relationship, also the bubble tip anemone is not a natural host to the occelaris clownfish and so this further decreases the chances.

It terms of adding another clownfish i think it would be unwise as the pair that you have are already mated. Clownfish are known to be very territorial especially to other clownfish further influenced by this is the size of your tank.

Normally I would put my money on the mated pair, but "cinnamon" clowns are pretty darn aggressive. So, either way I don't think this is a good idea and don't see it ending well. Best to stick with one pair per tank.

+1 i think you will have a battle royal on your hands if you add another clown. and a aggressive clown at that. clowns are still naturally aggressive being they are in the damsel family.

My clown started biting me :thumbdown a few months back whenever I was cleaning. Netted him for someone else to deal with it.
No more biting clowns for me.

warning do not shake your finger at your female clown and tell her "NO". she will only bite you harder.:headwally:

I still remember the the first time my clarki charged me when I was cleaning the tank. I was so surprised. I must have splashed a few gallons out:lolspin:

Today after 3 weeks my clown fish found my Bta. They won't leave it alone. All three seem really happy. I guess its clown instinct.
