Adding Float switch to Skimmer

Only other way would be to wire up a relay switch and power your skimmer through it.

i used this on mine:

you only need to fit the 1/4 tubing through the hole, and it's not as wide as a float switch either.

The switch fit in my skimmer lid without the need to make any modifications. The float is very close to both side walls but I think it will work. Hopefully I can get it wired up and programmed this week.

Is a breakout box required for something like this?

Yes or you would need to wire the switch directly to one of the cables that attaches to the Apex I/O port.
