Adding LR to sump

I have a large basement sump that has approx 75 gallon fuge. I also have another 40 gal breeder that is plumbed into the system that I was going to use as a frag tank later that is now empty with sump water running through it. I was planning on adding more Live rock to the existing 60 pounds or so in the fuge and a bunch to the 40 breeder. I am probably going to get the rock from someone on CR that is breaking down their tank. I have a tub set up to put it in and examine for unwanted pests, but what else should I be worried about?, and can I add a bunch of rock to a system without a major problem with the tank chemistry? Any ideas would be appreciated, thanks.

so are u keeping all ur live rock out of display and in sumps/fuge? i am cosidering moving all my rock to sump/fuge and out of display.

if u want to add more u can do a few lbs at a time it shouldnt cause any problems.

I have a bunch in the display, but for the bio filtration, I figured the more live rock in the system, the better.

Make sure when you add your rock that it is cycled. If its uncycled then add it in very slow amounts to ensure your tank can handle the dye-off and does not crash and re-cycle.

Other than that, inspect the rock for pests, bubble algae etc. and remove anything thats undesirable or considered a pest.

The more LR you can have in your system the better. Most of us don't want 1lbs of LR for 1gallon of tank water in our main display because it crowds the tank and gives less swimming room for fish. I use BRS Pukani which is very pourus. Having 450 pounds of that in my display would almost certainly take up the entire tank. I keep 150 pounds approx. in the display, and the rest is kept in the sump/fuge/holding tanks below.
