Adding more live rock

I'd like to add some more live rock to the tank I have. its cycled and been a month or so, and I want to create more ledges. What's the procedure for adding more live rock to a tank?

It depend on how much rock you plan on adding and what shape it is in. If there is a lot of dead and dying organic matter on the rock it is likely to start a new cycle, so it should be cycled in a separate container or tank before adding it to your tank. If there is little dead and dying matter on the rock unless you add a lot of rock your bacteria should be able to process the little that does die. It's generally safer to add dry rock (again assuming the dry rock doesn't have a lot of caked on dead organics) than live rock to an existing system.

AquaAdam: Yup. Dry rock will eventually become live rock when it's placed in your aquarium.

I did an aquascape last night and decided I wanted more rock. I just happened to have extra dry rock in the garage, so I tossed it in the tank and it'll blend it with the other stuff in no time (maybe a couple months?).

Hope that helps.
