adding multiple fish

tank size is standard 125 gallon with proflex 4 sump...theres about a total of 150lbs of live rock between sump and main display...

current occupants are melenarus wrasse and 2 clowns and one cleaner shrimp

would like to add
2 firefish
yellow tang
4 lyretails
3 green chromis
lawnmower blenny
cleaner shrimp

they were already in the tank before with the exception of the lyretails but lost them during a move...what do you think about adding them back at once...

If I understand your post, you lost those fish and would now be purchasing replacements....If this is the case, then no, you shouldn't add that many fish at one time

i have a 75 gallon qt tank!!

That's a lot of extra waste for the tank to handle in one hit. Maybe add two at a time over a few weeks?

I've never had experience with a tank that large though so may not be as much of an issue as with the 5ft I have.

i think itll be fine tank is been running for like 22 months..not to mention when i first set it up I added my entire cleanup crew with about 15 fish 2 months into the hobby and didnt lose anyone beside misc snail and crabs....

before anyone goes off the deep in i know now that i started wrong and wouldnt do it again that way but it did work.....

Id say do it, they are all relatively small with a small bioload, except the yellow tang. if your tank has been set up for 22 months then i dont see a big issue.

I will tell you my experience which is not necessarily the correct thing to do. When my tank was empty I introduced 5 fishes at the same time (not QT). I was lucky cause there weren't any problems. The fish behaved peacefully with each other, I think for me this was the big advantage.

Now I quarintine because I realize how much I care about my fishes and I dont want to press my luck.

My tank is very similar in dimensions to yours (130 gallons) and I guess your system can handle the biolad just given that you carefully monitor it.

One more thing, I may contradict myself, but the problem I see with quarintining many different fishes at the same time is that if one becomes sick or is a finicky eater it wont help to have the others in there together.

well i wanted more opnions, other than my own...it only takes a day for fish to arrive...there was another member here who also felt it would be ok so i went ahead and order them afterwards...sorry if you dont unerstand... but there still alive and eating like pigs thanks for the concern

Sounds like the OP wanted to post a thread to find someone who would justify his decision. Please let us know how the fish are doing so that others can learn whether in fact this process is recommended.

One case where it happens to work doesn't make it "recommended". Let's try to be at least a bit scientific. Good luck to the OP for the fishes sake. I don't see why you had to add all at once.

due to lack of patience, and wanting to see lots of fish swimming in a tank to make up a beautiful scene. that's how everyone is when he/she starts out in the hobby. after some time, especially after some disasters, most people will realize that lack of patience is the biggest killer in this hobby, and that nothing good every happens fast.

the problem with adding so many fish all at once is that they may come in with different diseases that may not be treated together, or will be very hard to treat together. i've seen enough cases of that to know that i never want more than 2-3 small fish at a time in a QT.

+1 I learned this when I first started. Patience really is the key
