Adding new fish w/ aggressive Clown?

I have a standard 20 gallon tank. With a few zoas and a mushroom. The basic CUC hermits and assorted snails. The biggest issue I have is with my aggressive female clown. The pair of Black and White Occelaris are the only fish livestock which is what I had really only planned for. However the wife is really wanting a goby or blenny of some type. If we go that route I'd prefer a smaller species that won't wreck the sand bed. Are there any other suggestion on this type or maybe another small fish she might enjoy?

IMO; it will probably be difficult to house anything with a pair clownfish in a tank that small. You might get away with a Watchman Goby, as those tend to live behind/under a rock - out of sight. Maybe get a goby-pistol shrimp pair to make it interesting...

How do they pair off?

The thing is you have to find a compatible shrimp for your goby (and vice versa). And even then it doesn't always work out 100% of the time. Best thing to do is find a pair already "paired up" at your LFS or off LA Divers Den.

Assuming you choose a shrimp goby, alpheus randall pistol shrimp will pair off. They will find each other for sure. But in a tank this size with a pair of clownfish, I am highly skeptical of long term success.

Too small? Clowns too aggressive? Why are you skeptical? Please elaborate.
