i am thinking of adding a rbta to a full sps setup. anyone has luck trying this? i am afraid the rbta would move around a lot and kill the sps. any successful stories?
I have half a 60 cube packed with SPS colonies, and the other half consists of 3x large BTAs. Good luck but expect it will move until it finds a perfect spot, then it should never move.

First, they are rock dwelling, so they take up too much SPS real estate.
Second, they can/will clone themselves, and the clones will move.
Third, they can and will cross the sandbed.
wow doesnt sound good. i have a spot where i would like to stay. but knowing it is an animal, there is always a chance it can move. i had a bta in the past but got too big so got rid of it. i see so many nice pictures of rbta. maybe i will wait til i get another tank.
Mine would actually stretch towards the direction of the nearest coral, and kill it. Then it would stretch towards the direction of the second nearest coral, and kill it. I'm not making this up or imagining it.
Basically, it needed 15" diameter, minimum. Then it split... into 3 :eek2: I removed them all.
I've been lucky so far. I added a rbta about eight months ago. It moved across a rock and settled down in a gap between rocks. It has been there ever since.
SpencerG, that's not really so uncommon, mine did the same, longer actually, till it split, pardon the pun. lol. I minimized incidental damage by setting up corals so they could be moved if need be.
