Adjustable water level overflow

I want an overflow system that allows me to adjust the water level in the display tank. Some times I want it at 20 inches deep and other times I want it at 17" deep. Does anyone have ideas on how to do this?

I could use 2 built in pipes; one 17" and the other 21", then just cap the 17" when I want to go to 21"; but that is not idea, Im hoping for one pipe that has adjustable height.

Go to the hardware store in the plumbing section. They have a tube that has a rubber grommet on each side. It is designed to slip between two pieces of PVC pipe and tighten the nuts on the end to seal it water tight. You could just slip it over your drain pipe and tighten it to the desired length. Loosen it and lower the pipe when needed.
