adjusting the 3110/2 skimmer

Hi I'm after a bit of advice

2 days ago I purchased the 3110/2 and have it mounted in-tank. 24 hours after mounting, it started to produce skimmate so I am very pleased . Only problem is its very wet, around 150mL daily, and a light green colour. Yes I do have an algae problem :D thats why I bought the skimmer. Question is is the skimmer pulling out algal cells?

Also I'm having problems with the mounting as the brackets provided dont work on my tank. its a modified Jebo with the builtin wet/dry filter and lighting unit removed so the plastic around the edge of the tank is too small for horizontal mounding and too wide for verticle. Are there any magnetic mounting options for the skimmer?

Thanks
Jacquie

It will be very wet for a week or two and generally wetter than our competitors. The green color you describe is also normal, different skimmer designs remove greater quantities of different materials, ours seems to really remove cellulose and plant materials well, likely the skimmate will have a peppery smell and make you sneeze, that is the capsaicin produced by algae (same compound that makes peppers hot) I know we are working to make the skimmer magnet mountable, it would not be hard to modify it yourself to do this. Do the long metal screws not work with your trim? I am not familiar with Jebo.

Thanks for that. Appreciate your help. I will leave the skimmer for a couple of weeks to break in.

The tank has a plastic trim which means it is too wide for the screws provided with the skimmer but the lip of the trim is too small to mount horizontally. I will look into options for mounting.

Their should be some long metal screws- 60mm. These should work, they also are part of an accessory kit 3000.244.
