He is a cool starfish! So what has your daughter named him?

Has your son taken a liking to him yet?

I am so glad you were able to provide him the home I wasn't able to. I didn't want to see him go to a pet store only to be killed by an inexperienced person. Thanks again!

My son has a similar stance to me: "If I don't have to touch it, that's just fine with me"... Daughter refers to him as "Chocolate Chip", probably because her eyes light up at the smell or talk of chocolate!!

I think they are actually called "chocolate chip starfish" and they are known coral eaters .

I don't know what else you have in the tank, but after they get 1" across (and this guy looks fairly big) -- you may want to keep an eye out.

Yes, I was aware of both items. He ate the last of my Xenia, which is fine with me, can't grow that stuff anyways... And I have him in a dedicated softy tank.

I also acquired one from a friend. He bought a setup from a guy with the CC in it but, they aren't coral safe so my friend put him in the sump and forgot about him for about a year. I've had him for about a year since then. They are pretty incredible IMO. We have ours "trained". He comes up to the top and puts an arm out of the water like yours in the second tank. We put Nori or small meaty items on the arm and he will pin it to the glass and eat it. I gave him something he didn't like one time and he kept putting the arm down in the water as if to rinse it away. He is not very picky though. Our puffer loves raw Broccoli florets, the CC starfish found a wayward floret and ate it! I made my husband come look because I don't have a decent camera and I just wanted somebody to witness that, lol.

Not to veer OT, but what kind of puffer do you have with the star? No issues between them?
