Advice about mixing wrasse

Hi all my question is i have a 145 litre tank and i was wondering what options i have if any on putting another wrasse with my six line wrasse?

I do have another option of moving my six line to my 13 gallon nano where he or she would be on it's own and adding a new wrasse or two to my bigger tank.
I'm not sure on what species can live along side each other and i would prefer
wrasse or wrasses that don't get too big and are pretty hardy.

I liked the GLORIOUS WRASSE (THALASSOMA QUINQUEVITTATUM) but i'm having problems finding what size it grows to and if it is suitable for a noob.
Before i commit to buying i would like to hear some opinions on the smaller wrasse species that i could maybe mix without world war3 breaking out.

It looks like it needs about double the size of your tank unfortunately.

I don't have much experience with mixing wrasses, but there is the one you were looking for with some information.

You won't be able to keep a wrasse in the Thalassoma genus. They get large and mean.

Adding a wrasse to the sixline will be tough. They are pretty aggressive, especially to other wrasses.

If you remove the sixline, you would have some options. Flasher wrasses, some fairy wrasses, either of the possum wrasses, or a pink streaked wrasse.

Wow flasher wrasses and fairy wrasses look stunning the colours look totally amazing such a pretty fish.Can fairy and flasher wrasses tolerate each other?Or can either be kept in pairs?

My six line has been a good tank mate up till now but i thought i best get some advice before impulse buying any new fish.My local fish store only has a limited choice but a online supplier very close to me has a amazing amount of species and choices only thing lacking is care requirements so i have had to google every single one i liked.

It depends on which species, and not all will fit in your tank.

They can't be kept in pairs of the same species, since all wrasses will eventually turn male. But males of different species can usually be mixed.

Google “all about wrasses in aquaria” you’ll get a really long and informative answer about mixing wrasses, types that get along, care guide, etc. its long but worth the read. I’m also pretty sure that was the link he was trying to send. In short you can mix some males of certain genus together fine. For example I recently added a linespot flasher and a african exquisite fairy together and they’re pals swimming together and flashing at each other from time to time. Best of luck. In my tank I have 3 leopard wrasses, a 6 line, carpenter wrasse, Christmas wrasse, and a melenunus wrasse. But my tank is 240 gallons so they have room to do what they please.

You can mix wrasses, but be prepared to step in when the social experiment goes wrong. I had a lunare and yellow moon that were buddies for over a month until the lunare turned into a sociopath. He injited the yellow moon and I think he killed my goatfish... Either way it took 1.5 hours, 2 nets, rearranging the tank, pvc pipe, and a plastic fork but I finally caught him. I say all that because the difficulty in removing a failed experiment should be factored into the decision to try it. Good luck.

Edit: forgot to mention that sometimes when you crowd aggression it ends up working. Read up on those theories if you have the room in the tank.

Lunar wrasses are really big and really mean. I wouldn't recommend them for basically any private aquarium.

Reefcentral block all mention of other competitors sites. Google Evolved and wrasses you will come up with The writing of Evolved on wrasses. IMO he is one of the most knowledgeable person on keeping wrasse in aquarium.
What can be keep. How to keep them. What species can be keep together which cannot and ..... Basically everything a beginner need to know to bring him to Advanced Wrasse keeper level.

I've had over 40 wrasses together in my 450g tank without problems ... But in general the 6 line can be a problem when you add new wrasses.

I never rely on single source of information so don't take everything any one person said as written in stone. However, what Hunter (Evolved) wrote is as close to this as you can get.
Pioneer information like these are not cheap to come by, especially for people who are not in aquarium for a living. I am glad that he take the time to share it with everybody.
