I really want to get an anemone for my clown. I think its an O. clown. Has anyone had any success in keeping there anemones in an area that you wanted it. I know that they move around a lot, but is there anyway to station them in an area that I want it?

Currently my clown has decided to live in a mushroom in the tank. If I buy an anemone, will it even take to it? or is it already too attached to the mushroom? If I put my hand into the tank, It attacks my hand, even if I don't come too close to the mushroom.

Here is a picture.
Also, when I bought the clownfish, they told me it was a true percula, but over time, it has turned really black on the top of the fish. When i bought it, it was completely orange with a tiny black rim on its fins. does anyone have anymore insight to what I really have? Thanks for the info.

I have photographed them in H.magnifica predominantly and seen them in S. gigantea. two of the hardest anemones to keep unfortunately, keeping them in one place would be the latest of your worries.

a bta would work but it may take a while for the fish to host.
good luck

Anemones may or may not move, and your A. ocellaris (your LFS was wrong) may or may not accept an anemone as a host, there are no definitive answers, that's just the way it is. A bta is all you should attempt in a biocube, and I'm not sure about that since I don't know what type of lighting it has.

Btw, I can't tell for sure if those are Rhodactis indosinensis (frilly/hairy mushrooms) behind the clown, but if they are, they are known to be clownfish eaters.

#1. LFS was wrong, False perc (A. Ocellaris)

#2. I think that you are going to need more powerful lighting then what is in the stock hood to keep a BTA.

Aaarrrggg, u are right, they dont always move. They will move for awhile until they find a "happy spot". I have 3 that are thriving & one that has shrunk up into alittle golf sized ball, but is still eating. The flow there is the same as it has always been (almost 2 yrs now I think).

I haven't heard of a mushroom that eats clownfish before....has anyone else? If so I don't want to have to worry about Nemo ending up a snack.

Elephant ear mushrooms eat fish. Don't know about rhodactis. I'd keep researching that if I were you.

My bad, it is Rhodactis mussoides (elephant ear shrooms) I was thinking of. Although, I don't think I would trust any Rhodactis sp. large enough to close around a clownfish.
