Ok im going to start using cumprunine to treat my fish for ich. I will be using a 20g long as a hospital tank. My question is do I need to buy a copper test kit or by following the directions I should be ok? Any advice greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Buy a test kit, they aren't that expensive (all things considered). Issues may arrise if you need to dose a second time and have no idea how much copper is still in the tank. This could lead to you overdosing just by following the directions and "guessing".
Isn't cupramine an amine-based chelated copper? I wonder if you need a special test kit? For sure you won't be able to gauge the dose based on normal citrated copper treatment levels. I use Coppersafe, and we had to modify an API test kit procedure to measure it in tank water.
Assuming its another for of ich yes copper will work. Just make sure you keep the copper level at .5 if you are using cupramine for 3 weeks. Keep an eye on amonnia and add some liquid bacteria to help.
