I recently setup my new 240g cube that is 4'x4'x2'. I'm struggling a bit with my lighting and flow, and would like some advice from the big tank crowd. I thought I could simply double my lights and double my vortices, but it seems to be a little much. Please critique my setup:
2 x 54Wx8 bulb Power Modules for a total of 16 bulbs
4 x MP40W Vortechs. 2 on each side panel
Sump is 75g with a BK 300 deluxe internal
Return is Reeflo Dart going through 2 sea swirls over the top of the tank, located on the back edges of the tank.
Internal flow seems low despite the pumps. I have mostly SPS and chalices. Corals look ok, but polyp extension is less than expected. I have to say the tank was recently setup, and all livestock was moved from my well established 120g about 3 months ago.
Any help would be welcome!!!! I'm new to the challenges of a large reef tank, but am anxious to have a beautiful piece of the reef in the future!!!
