Does anybody dip their corals in before putting them in the display? If so, what?

Thanks.

Tropic Marin Pro Coral Cure for all stonies for me

makes Acro Eating Flatties Manifest themselves to be blown off

makes acro red bugs show themselves for a follow-up treatment of interceptor

i've never dealt with them, but it is supposed to irritate nudi's too

Thanks, Kip. I'll be getting a 225 soon and hope to have it SPS dominated. I also heard Seachem Reef Dip works well too.

We dip all incoming SPS in Interceptor and Fluke Tabs. My experience with the Fluke Tabs is that it only stuns AEFW. You still have to give the coral a vigorous swishing to get them to fall off. Levamisole dips would ensure AEFW deaths.

how i deal with eggs...

1st off.. no bases or frag mounts of any acros goes into my system... if the new acquisition is mounted on anything.. it gets snipped from that mount and the mount discarded... also.. if there is any bare areas of the coral/frag... that gets clipped away too (for those playing along these are the areas where eggs are layed)

2nd... its amazing what a cheap magnifying gl*** will discover... inspection, inspection, inspection

3rd... if ya dont have time to do all of this for some reason... dont get in a hurry or get lazy.... put the new acquisitions in a seperate holding tank until you can work with them (can be a 5-10g tank with an air bubbler and a heater)

uh... dont know why it *** that word... if you cant figure it out... we will call it magnifying lens

agree
In my case-
1-fluke tabs 15-30 mins
2-interceptor - 4hrs or so
3- 15 mins of revive. Used to use Tmpcc but way to harsh on the sps.
4- inspect
5-Pray~!

i follow the instructions on the container... 1 full squirt per 200ml.... bath time around 10-15 mins... just keep the water circulated/aerated (i do this by squirting a turkey baster a: to loosen any possible aefw's and b: to create bubbles (gas exchange) in the bath water)

HTH

has anyone had adverse reaction to their frags from so much dipping? I'm wondering if it causes more undo stress on the frags to dip so much after they've gone through the shipping process.
Anyone tried putting them in QT and slowly dipping vs all in one day?

i'm sure there is some stress. especially since I dip the sea chem at about 5x the instructions. but i'd rather lose a frag here and there and be aggressive up front.
