advice on going BB.

I'm thinking of going BB because with me going all sps(frags right now) the flow in the display is insane and i cant keep the sand bed down.Do i need to slowly remove the sand?Also i was thinking of just putting it in the sump.I made a fuge area that i didnt end up using that i could put the sand in and some left over chito.Its not alot of sand maybe 40 lbs and would be easy to remove with my open aquascape and the fact my tunzes have blown it all to the sides.Heres a pic....

Best to remove it gradually but you don't seem to have that much anyways so you can probably do it over a couple of weeks. Monitor ammonia and nitrite to make sure your bio filter adjust properly.

I have gone bb and taken all the sand out at once with no ill effects. I personally think it is important to be well overated in the skimmer department, and a few powerheads positioned behind the rock structure on the bottom of the tank will help keep detritus in suspension. As stated, monitor your parameters closely...
