Advice on new RBTA to tank

Goign to get my first RBTA today....any advice on best place to put it?

Been eating silversides consistantly and is 4"-5" and looks very healthy...I'm excited!

It really doesn't matter too much where you put it as it will move where it wants to be by itself. Usually BTA prefer to be on the rockwork with their foot deep in a crevice or hole.

Here's a photo of my new nem in hopefully its permanent home...

I found a nice rock with a decent crevice so we'll see what happens...

That's a very nice rose...nice deep red color and looks healthy (for just being introduced to a new tank).

What size is your tank and what other corals do you have out of curiosity?

I have a 55 gallon...and a bunch of zoanthids, a few acros, a frogspawn, a torch and a few other odds and ends....2 tomato clowns...that I'm hoping to pair up...we'll see...

And it finally has sunk into the hole where I want it to stay..we'll see if it roams tonight! :)

Less than 4 hours after acclimation...my large Tomato decided to make a stand...and jump head first into the rose...we're ecstatic..needless to say!

Now if they'll only pair up and start making babies!!! :love2:

I don't really think that you have a choice in the matter of where to "put it" because it decides where its personal balance of light, flow, ect. is satisfied and will move to that position. At least for me, when I got my first Anemones, I tried to get them into this lovely showpiece spot that I had planed, but they would move away. Give them a couple days (min) to settle down (during which period they often hide under rocks) and then they usually move out more into the light. You can move the rock to possibly hint them in the direction of where you want them, but in the end it all comes down to where the nem wants to be!

Best of luck :)

Well it's on the move...slowly moving towards the other side of the tank...hopefully it'll settle near the middle and stay...it's so beautiful!

Congrats on your RBTA - If it actually stays where you originally put it consider yourself very fortunate. I added mine early before much else was in my tank (thankfully) as it spent the next 30 days covering every inch (vertically and horizontally) of the the tank.

I got lucky in that it settled front row center in the tank, in a high flow, medium high light area that allowed me to arrange everything else around the RBTA.

Even then, I didn't fully allow for the size changes when it gets "happy" and fully inflates. It creeps up on an SPS shelf, so I had to adjust a MP20 to keep a strong current over the edge of the ridge to "persuade" it from going further. It's been a couple of months and it seems happy with the arrangement, but you never know when it might decide it's time for a road trip.

I think the bottom line is, when you an a Nem to a tank you no longer have control - it does :)
