advice on placement

i just piced up a frag that i believe might be A. hyacinthus. it's a table of some sort i believe. the mother colony came into the shop and started RTN'ing and the guy fragged it all up. the frags have been growing and coloring up for 2wks + so i bought a frag.

was wondering what you guys thought would be the best placement in my tank.

2x400w MH (1x20k on 8hr/day 1x10k on 2hr/day) about 40x's+ turn over.

was wondering about placement. i put it in the very lower left corner by the orange cap and the gomezie. my tunze stream (not in this pic) blows and hits the glass and comes wrapping aorund this area. but it is in the lower left and doesnt' get the light that other places would

or do i put it by the calli tort (just right of center up high) so it gets LOTS of flow from the stream and lots of light from the bubls? i really would like to keep it lower so i don't shade everything below it.

in my tank would it be a problem leaving it in the lower left corner?

thanks

If that area gets good flow (which I'm certain it does if it's in your tank) I would place it lower. It will happily grow toward the light given the opportunity. I had a good sized piece of hyacinthus that I placed up high, and it tabled out on me and blocked a good amount of light for the stuff below.

The red bugs got the best of that one. It seemed particularly prone to them.

jm$.02. Perhaps someone else can offer their advice.

Ewan - thanks buddy!!! it gets nice flow there right behind the gomezie (lower left) to the right of the cap. basically faciing out towards the cap. there is nothing on that side and it is a nice nitch for a coral IMO. i just wanted to make sure it would have enough flow and light. the tunze hits the front glass and then wraps around that left side and behind the rockwork so it should be enough flow i would think. plus all the other flow in there

anyone else?

Hey Eric,

Tables will do good where they can get strong flow. I agree in not putting it at the top of the tank. Tables, once they get going will grow fast and can become very large. Having it high will cause it to block the light to other corals.

Good Luck with it!

JB NY - thank man!! i figured i better not put it high in the tank. guess that is why i put it at the bottom. it should be getting nice strong flow...i would like it to have more but we'll see if the corals close to the tunze can take more....slowly up the flow.

i'll keep you guys posted...thanks though
