Advice on selling large aquariums and equipment quickly

Not a $1500 lot.

I paid $1500 for my 315 gallon aquarium, it was a much newer tank, stand and canopy. Custom stand and canopy built by a well known shop in California.

The most desirable easy to sell thing was poached from the lot. The 300 is old and would be nice, but the market for used mid sized tanks is horrendous.

At first I thought the $400 was way low, now if he hauls, take it and move on.

I'm going to try and break things down to sell, but I'm also going to post the entire lot together. This is a video showing all the equipment I have for sale. The Bubble Magus skimmer is sold but everything else is still available. Do you think $1500 for everything including the 300 gallon tank is a fair price? Oh, and I checked the measurements- the tank is 300 gallons.

OMG what an disaster. A lot of junk. Only thing seem worth anything is the big tank and maybe the chiller. But given the shape of everything you be lucky it doesnt leak and stuff still works.

$1500 is alot to ask. Most people dont need more than one tank. No way i would touch that stuff for that much. really you will be lucky to find anyone that wants everything. Most is just junk. If you part it out and clean & test thing you could get a lot more. But to get everything you are going to need to low ball.

Man. That video was depressing. This was obviously someone that was really into their hobby at one point and just fell apart. I'm sure the person was so excited about the addition of every one of those pieces of equipment when they were first acquired.

I do agree with the other replies though. At this point with the condition that stuff is in, "$400 and I don't have to help you shift it" would be a great deal.

Well she may have to store the property first legally. I work with foreclosed and short sale homes and we have to do that. After that is you post up some "free" ads and give it away it'll be out of her hands REAL quick

Ok, so obviously I way overshot with that estimate. When i walked through the house for the 2nd time yesterday i realized it was a lot of junk, but there are some good pieces in there. I've been doing some research so let me just explain what i was thinking.

I found that the 300 gallon tank would run about $2000 new so I was hoping to get around $800 for it. Do you think if I got bulk heads to plug the holes and did a leak test and dumped a little vinegar in that tank to clean it up I would at least have a chance at 800 for it? You guys have seen what we are dealing with now, it's obviously going to take a month or two to clean the place up enough to rent again so we do have some time to find the right buyer. I was really thinking the big tank alone had to be worth more than $400.

I saw that that same chiller sold recently for $450 on ebay. So I have it posted on the local club forum for $400. I would be willing to clean that up and test it if people think I can get the money for it.

The Marineland skimmer is a $300 skimmer, I realize that not many people would trust a Marineland skimmer, but it is brand new, the box hasn't even been opened. I was thinking I could get $100 for that.

And I have no idea what that AquaC skimmer is worth, but I would have guessed I could get a few bucks for it. I don't know how to figure out what model it is though.

The Bubble Magus has a huge webbed cracked in the body so I doubt that was a big money getter.

I was thinking I could sell the tanks for cheap, like $50 for the 90 gallon and $10 each for the two 40breeders and the 29 gallon.

I would be willing to let anyone who makes a purchase take any of the remaining equipment and whatever doesn't walk just goes in the dumpster.

So if I break things up that way do you still think I'm over-priced?
