i like the fact that i can use the valve at the bottom to siphon the baby brine for easy collection.

supposedly i can use this to culture rotifers also.

Those are great for hatching brine, especially if you need a lot. I use the larger ones myself. I've also used FAF carboy hathcer. It works pretty good too and it less expensive then the hatcher cone. I just bought the conversion kit and one of the 5 gal water jugs from Wal-mart and made it myself.

christine.

do you think its overkill? i only need it for 1 pair of clowns for now. i just like the despenser on it. seems easy to use.

A lot of people like them. I am too cheap, however. I use a small bucket and pour or dip out the rots I need. For one pair of spawning clowns(as I have), I don't think the device is needed.

Very nice but overkill for your present needs. All you need is a couple soda bottles (free) for bs and a couple 5 gallon buckets for rotifers ($5 ea). A decent airpump (you need anyway) and your done.

Have you seen the "Hatch 'n Feeder" by Oscar Enterprises? I've seen this at the LFS ($24.99), but have never needed it myself (at least not yet).

Click HERE to see it on their web page.

You don't want that either, hatching in the larval tank will quickly foul the water. Really, hatching bbs is about the simplest aspect of breeding clownfish, if that is a challenge for you you really don't stand a chance  Just kidding but honestly there is no simpler way than the good old soda bottle and it will produce more than necessary for a single pair & offspring :D

I've seen the hatch and feeder in operation in my LFS. Seems interesting. I don't know why you would need it on the side of the tank. All the shrimp hatch close to the same time anyway. You'd have better control hatching in a separate system and feeding when you need to feed.

thanks david,fishgutz

for your thoughts.

i agree, if i cant grow bbs, i should stop / :)

i went ahead and ordered that item from FAF. i know the soda bottle is a very simple economical way, but i liked the ease of the hatch-rite 3. i plan to use it to give some food to my adult clowns as well.

Agree with all,gross overkill:)
I use a tilted gal jar, with a rigid air line in the deepest point. For collecting,I stop aeration for 5" and then siphon all to a bucket, then strain it.
That way, much of the empty shells remain attached to the jar´s walls;)
