AEFW and mithrax

It is an interesting theory. I was surprised to learn at IMAC in a presentation given by Adelaide Rhodes that emeralds eat copepods.

That pic above is not an emerald crab.. i had one come in on my live rock and surprisingly my CBB killed his punk ***....burn those crabs...if i put all this work in my tank the last thing im gonna do is put a crab in there to **** it all up....just make sure the FW and red bugsetc....dont ever make it in the tank adn teh whole mithrax deal is assanine.

Then what type of crab is it ? The crab has flat tips just like a mythrax not all mythrax are emeralds.

Eat copepods! The little sneaks! No wonder my totally useless-for-bubble emerald is hanging around my amphipod breeding rock!

Can anyone else confirm norbergs experience.

SKtr, I have watched emeralds wipeoput bubble. They pop it and eat it. I wonder if we are all talking about the same crabs.

I have concluded that emeralds do not eat AEFWs. I have had an emerald in a colony for a while and now I discovered AEFWs in that same colony. THis was a theory that I was testing and isn't the case. I do hope that we do find a natural remedy to this problem.

Emerald crabs are unpredictable. Yes they are good at pick the rocks and cleaning detris. When they get bigger they can change there taste. I had one destroy my millie. It would pick at it every night until half was gone. It would even stalk my baby clownfish . But, it was picky, left other sps alone. No more crabs for me. especially hairy ones.

Nataku:

I totally agree with you. Emerald crabs are unpredictable. It killed a few of my green chromis a while back. my green chromis had lesions on its sides and that was from the emeralds claw. So I snip the emerald with a scissor:mad: A taste of its own medicine;)
