AF Probiotic Salt

What has been the census with this salt, with SPS corals, I have always till now used IO Reef Crystals with good results. I have been hearing how good AF Salts are and I tried the Probiotic salt but my coral colors look bad. Any thoughts?

Coral coloration is a complicated issue. I am not sure what's happening, but given that the coral colors have declined, I might try switching back for a bit. The AF salt should keep for quite a while, so it's not much of an extra expense. I'd check the lighting and feeding, as well, though.

Thanks for the reply, I was already thinking about moving back to IO Reef Crystals, was wondering if others had similar issues with AF.

Corals like stability in parameters..
When you switched did you maintain consistent parameters?

That could likely be your problem..

What salt mix you use really doesn't matter.. All salt mixes are capable of being used successfully on tanks.. There is no proof that one is better than the other..
Just all marketing fluff..

I second that salt does not have much impact to make coral ugly/beautiful. Important is stability. Did you dose anything? How did you make the salt change from previous to probiotic salt?

+1

I use whatever is the cheapest when I need to order it. Have yet to have an issue with switching salts every couple months. I do test and match my DT with every batch though.

I agree that most salt products should be fine. I would worry some about a bad batch of salt, though.
