hey, iam not shure if this is the right spot for this. Iam still learning all about SPS,LPS etc. But I found a piece of 1" African Blue Cespitularia the guy at the store said it is a very rare piece of coral and can be hard to look after. Is this true ?

Thanks

J

No, its not hard to look after at all. it is every bit as much of a weed as xenia and has similar reqirements. It may be dufficuly 2 find now but will probably be very common in a few years. BTW it is a softy, not LPS.

It grows well, but at the same time will sometimes melt with no warning. Keep it in an area of good flow and light.

No, that's a LFS price. You can find it on RC or some other on line retailers for about half that. I'm sure your LFS got it as a frag so there are more than likely others in your home town that have it as well.

It's quite a bit harder to come across, little more finicky than Xenia, and a lot more attractive-- Some clones have pretty mind blowing colors. Post this in the Soft Coral forum. There's a few people there who have some incredible strains.

Well it's supposedly a poor shipper but our colony of Cespitularia was in transit for 3 days due to Fedex losing it and it still made it alive!!!

That may have been a 1 in a million story though!

i would not have to ship its at my LFS just not shure if its worth the money
Its a bit high but is it worth it to you? Thats all that matters. IMO If you find it else where for cheaper by the time you pay shipping and then take a chance on it not making it and having to pay shipping again to replace it. You would be better off buying it there.IMO

Jordan, I bought this frag off of Apex003 a few months ago for only a little more than the LSF is asking for yours (including shipping).

He did an amazing job of packaging it and it opened right up in the tank.

Look him up if your thinking about buying cespitularia.

Erin, that's a spectacular-looking coral.

Thanks. Next to my LPS its one of my favorites.

Thank you Garrett. It's a lovely coral. It knocks the socks off of any cespitularia I've seen in the local shops. :D
