African Flameback Angel

I have never seen one of these but only pictures. Are they as pretty as they are or not? Trying to decide which one to get between the african flameback or a flame angel and which one is easier to care for? Thanks

What type/size of tank?

It is hard to compare it to a flame, since the colors and patterns are so different. I have had both (( currently have a flame )) and find them both very striking.

Thank Todd, I knew the flame had different colors depending on locations but did'nt know the flameback were like that too. Tough decisions on my part.

It is a minor difference, the Brazilian ones will have a blue caudal fin, as opposed to yellow/transparent with the African.

They can be super aggressive in smaller tanks. I had to get rid of the one I had in my 93 cube.

Flamebacks are also a bit smaller thean flames..

I think flamebacks are somewhat hardier than flames.

We catch the flamebacks locally. They are generally pretty tough fish who can withstand a variety of less than perfect tank conditions (not that I'm advocating this !)

Bit of useless info, their common name this side of the world is a "BEAN"
