Water + vinegar = best cleaner
Cup vinegar to gallon water or so..
When I turn it on and it's still overflowing, do I keep skimmer going that way until it settles or should I turn it off and check day to day by powering on and see if its overflowing? The reason I don't want it on is that I noticed its wetting the bottom of tank (wood) as it overflows... which is no good. Even if I can the skimmer with lid the water gets through the holes and splashes up

What I normally do after turning my skimmer back on from using chemiclean is mix up some fresh salt water so i have it ready. I turn the skimmer on and open the adjuster so the water level is as low as possible and just let the cup fill up as fast as it's going to. I just keep letting it fill up and then emptying it until it starts to calm down ( usually about 3 skimmer cups worth) and adding fresh salt water as I need to to replace what is getting dumped down the drain from repeated filling of the skimmer cup. Once it starts calming down I adjust the water level slowly up until i back to around where I normally keep it, just keep emptying the cup along the way.
