After cycle spike?

My cycle has been complete for almost a week i guess. Added couple clowns about 4-5 days ago. Water was cloudy, bacteria bloom I think, (params - 0) and today was crystal clear. However when I tested my nitrite was .50 and nitrate was 5. algea in fuge has not been looking good for about a week i guess, thought maybe LR and LS maybe robbing some nutrients from it.

Ordered more algea today and should have it in a couple days.

is this normal?

Yes, nitrite and nitrate often hang around for a while after the ammonia is gone. Neither of them will harm the clowns, but I'd do a series of 20% water changes to clean out any other compounds released by the decay process.

to be on the safe side, along with water changes add some "Prime" to neutralize nitrites, and possibly lingering ammonia.

Hey John Bertoni, could it be the remnants of adding the fish and the bacteria just catching up to the new bio-load?

Maybe. I'm not sure. I suspect the alga is an issue, though. Maybe some chelated iron would help, maybe not.
