Hi everyone,
After being in this hobby for about two years, I finally decided to redo my aquascape to respark my interest in the hobby. When I started this tank (which was also my first venture into saltwater aquariums), I initially only wanted to do an all sps tank so I created a lot of high areas to keep mainly sps as seen here:
The problem with this aquascape was that I really couldn't keep low light corals because of the limited space on the sandbed. I just recently started to enjoy zoas, acans, and other lps. Also, my monti caps started to touch the front glass so I just decided to remove the large structure on the right side of the tank and free up some room for some low light corals. This is right before the change:
This is after the new aquascape (It's cloudy because I stirred up the sandbed):
I liked the tonga branch design and created a structure to hold my larger lps, monti caps, and sps. It also allowed for more flow because the previous structure acted like a brick wall and impeded a lot of flow in my tank.
I also didn't like how my zoa colony couldn't really grow out on the sandbed so I decided to create an island for my zoas and acans. I made it out of cement with premade holes for the plugs to fit into:
And my first Acan:
I'm hoping once I add more zoas and acans and they all grow out, it'll look like a really nice zoa/acan island. Thanks for looking!
