Wow....looks like I missed a lot!

I think you started the build like five years ago, Erik. There's no way it looks that nice in just a few weeks...lol.

Aaron stopped by last night and said you're a perfectionist. I told him you actually spent about an hour picking the individual rubbles from my shop and we just kinda stop and stare at each and shake our heads....

Just out of curiosity...how late and how often did you stay up late at night aquascaping? lo

What a bad-*** tank...I am so jealous.

Hi Robert-

Aaron can't stop talking about your store! We are scheming a plan to bribe you into stocking up on only the most primo SPS and LPS for us! Then we will focus on taking over the WORLD!!! Okay maybe not...too much watching AquaTeen Hunger Force!

I swear the aquascaping took only two hours!! I have a cool idea that Im working on but we will see if I can pull it off.

Nice screen. I plan to screen my tank as well. This was always a concern of mine with the rimless design - difficult to do w/o taking away from the clean lines of a rimless tank, but yours is well executed and looks great.

Thanks Oldtimer! After losing one of these:

where did you get that meshing on top of your tank, that's a really good idea to prevent carpet surfiing

Lowes $5!

Also sad to report that my other buddy

was found pinned under live rock a few weeks back. I somehow found another at LiveAquaria but they called me the other day to let me know it did not survive in their system.

OOOOOOOOO... DROOL!! What fish is that??
And your Lr is really nice. Wish i could get stuff like that over here. Especially large ones like yours. Your tanks are truly inspirational. Hope you don't mind if i "steal" a few ideas.

Where did you get the Leuc? I've had a 2.25 inch female Leuc for about a year now. I had a smaller male too,(about 0.75 inch) but my Golden Dwarf Moray, (which is reef safe according to everything I'd read) promptly ate him. I'm either looking for another or wanting to sell her...

I got the larger one at Tong's in LA and the small one from a friend who purchased a trio from a guy on the East Coast.

Sorry to hear about your loss! FWIW any eel is going to eat a fish that fits in its mouth and is slow/close enough for it to catch. I think, however, they will usually will take the easier route and that would be handouts from you :)

MODERATORS PLEASE READ

Hello Mods:

I am having issues with my thread. Very often when I try to post, I get a timeout or the following error comes up:

We're Sorry
You've encountered an error. While the search engine is frequently the cause of the error, it may not have been your 'click' that caused the error. Ordinarily this error is caused by our search engine because the term entered caused too many results to be returned. If you encoutered this error while searching, you can try doing the search again and changing the term, or including more terms to limit the number of results. Words like "skimmer" or "sand" all by themselves are present in too many posts to make them useful as search terms.

Would you mind please having a look?

Thank you,

Erik

beautiful, you have done right by this amazing tank, congrats.

oh BTW your clownfish make me weak in the knees.

That happens to many threads. If you see it, don't do anything other than click Refresh. That way your post won't be lost.

Recap:

Get an error message.
Click Refresh.
Wait.
If you get an error again (it will eventually time out), click refresh.
Wait.
Once the post is visible, go on to something else.

;)

Thats what I normally do but I read in another thread that the author was having similar problems and the RC mods went in and fixed a few things to improve performance.

Thanks Nick for the props.

NP it's well deserved, I used this tank as an inspiration for my own rimless back when it was invincible's

mesh

mesh

Is this mesh sort of like fishing line? What size are the squares - don't fish usually jump sort of head first?

I keep thinking to myself - Gill Net - I hope not.

My Bluethroat Trigger jumped the other night as the lights went out - luckily I was there and threw him back in - so I have a new found concern to deal with.

BTW - your reef is a beauty.

Gillnetting is a common fishing method used by commercial fishermen of all the oceans and in some freshwater and estuary areas. Because gillnets can be so effective their use is closely monitored and regulated by fisheries management and enforcement agencies.Mesh size, twine strength, as well as net length and depth are all closely regulated to reduce bycatch of non-target species. Most salmon fisheries in particular have an extremely low incidence of catching non-target species.

Glad to hear you were able to save your trigger.

The material is like fishing line but black and UV resistant. The squares are probably around 5/8" ea. I have smaller square netting but chose the larger to allow more light through. I am not too worried about fish making it through as most of mine are larger than 5/8". Ones that could fit through would need to line it up perfect.
