Could not resist dropping some coin on a wild true echinata. In person it was just too splendid to pass up! This one is huge...9" - 10" easy!

Sounds like a good plan.. I have two in my tank.. Ice fire on the bottom , almost 2" from the sand and looks great there. My yellow enchinata looks super bright yellow on the mid. I do run 400 w Radiums though.

Yeah I had several Ice Fires in my prev tank and they seemed to do well at all light levels. You got a pick of that yellow echinata? Sounds cool!

Very sad to report that my most prized piece all but melted overnight! Was able to salvage 5 frags but knowing how fast these go, I have little hope. I am distributing frags between a few buddies.

Since I had nothing to lose, I decided to run a little experiment. I placed the mother colony and some frags in a bucket w/ antibiotic. I have a heater and power head in there with it. Im going to leave overnight and see if the RTN stops. This is all assuming that the infection is bacterial. Oh well...cant hurt!

Sorry to hear, that's a great piece :(

Did it just randomly peel out of nowhere?

Yeah it did the typical smooth skinned acro thing...just started sluffing skin right off the skeleton. All I did was dose pot iodide and aminos the night before.

I chucked the mother colony this AM but so far all the frags have survived. My fingers are crossed...not out of the woods yet.

gotta love reef drama :uzi:

what antibiotic are you running with the coral to treat it?
Awsome piece by the way. Hope you can save it.

I threw some Amoxicillin in there. Didn't help the colony but I suspect it was already too late. I had half the frags soaking for about 5 hours and they seem fine now. Not going to say its the antibiotics because the other non treated frags are fine too.
