AgentSPS' 300 Gallon ***DreamReef***

Ptan-

Wow thanks for posting! When I first looked at it on my iphone I thought it was a 2000. I didn't think any of the 5000 cones were shipping yet! Very nice!!! Is that a 12" base?

yeah its a 12" or bigger.... Didnt able to check it myself...

I'm from the philippines so i have the chance to get it directly from China...

It is manufactured close to ATB qualities... you will surely be happy with it.

Have you ever thought about the MSX300A. Its a beast and you can't go wrong with the Askoll/Laguna pumps. I love it, and by far the best skimmer I have ever owned. Let me know if you want some pics of it in action.

is MSX300A same as OCT300? if yes I think this new xp5000 is better because I myself is an owner of one OCT300 and the supplier of mine says that the new xp5000 will out peform the OCT300... hope that helps

Its similiar but aren't all skimmers.
Octo has 8" body and MSX has a 10"
Volute for octo is a skim-rite and MSX is a Laguna
MSX has modified neck to increase bubble collection meaning bigger neck, Octo does not
MSX is taller by a few inches
Bubble plate design is totally different

So really the only thing the same is the motor. I am by no means biased towards either as I have never tried the octo. Just throwing out some ideas. I have one and love it.

Hi Demonic-

Thanks for pointing out the MSX to me. This was the first time I had head about it. It looks pretty sturdy and I have heard some hype about the Askoll 1500 pumps. If I am not misteken, I think the Bubble Blaster is outperforming the Askoll....especially the 5000 series. Also heard that the Askoll's run hot?

Visiting Steve (Jar*Head) last weekend I left feeling pretty defficient in the flow department. I was compelled to buy two Tunze NanoStream 6055's and a Stream2 6105. That will take up the remaining ports on my Profilux. Should give me more than enough flow now though! :bounce3::bounce2::bounce1::bounce3::bounce2::bounce1:

do you mean this baby?

its a monster.. the workmanship is great... but didnt have the chance using it yet till my new tank start cycling... hope that helps...

have yu seen these skimmers plumbed externally? a simple addition of 2 uniuns and some careful placement and it can be placed outside the sump.. the main thing is the height of the water level in the sump.. awsome considering one myself now that they are available here in SA

Someone did a comparison of both pumps, I cant remember who though. They are very comparable pumps. I was just throwing it out there. I have no idea on which one would be a better skimmer, but I am glad I made this purchase. And I know a place that has it with free shipping at $599. I just ordered it and was talking with the owner before hand and he gave me a code. Pretty sure it still works if you decide to go that route.

The model I am considering is external. No need to retrofit an internal. See the pic I posted above.

Funny I also got the CS4. I still havent totally figured it out. Probably go to Barnes & Noble and get the book tomorrow.

Hi Scott!! Long time no speak! How's your tank doing?

My little 60G cube is full of acans and chalice! Lots of color but needs some pretty sticks!

Maybe you PhotoShop geeks can put together a reefers cheatsheet of tricks every aquarist needs to know about cleaning up tank shots? e.g. de-'snowing' images, adding nice borders, etc. That would be sweet!

PS I'm still using (or rather learning to use) PS 6!

Scott

My brother enrolled in a PS class at a local jr college and found it really useful. Big time commitment but worth it to learn all the ropes. The program is too feature packed to teach oneself.

Totaling over 14,000 GPH flow now!!!

I spent the better part of two evenings programming the flow sequences into the Profilux. It took way longer than it should have as I had one DOA 6055. Only after hours of fiddling with the Profilux did I figure out I had a bad one.

Lesson learned:

If you just plug in a Tunze without any control cables attached it SHOULD run full throttle. If it doesn't, you got a dead pump.
