AgentSPS' 300 Gallon ***DreamReef***

Snapped some shots of the new Spathulata. The water in the bag was pretty chilly and milky when it arrived and I was really worried I was going to lose it. Despite losing some color it seems to be doing okay so far in the tank (knock on wood). Just for good measure I chopped a few frags for some friends. Finger crossed!

Stunning Spath Erik! Best luck with this one.

The shape of coralite & yellow edge reminds me the scales of golden dragon, which is symbolic in Chinese culture

That Spath looks really good Erik. I don't think it lost any color at all from its days at LA. I think I'm going to have to drop by and take a look at it in person to make sure it's not a fake coral...and also to get a frag. :D

Now how about some pics of those mini echi....

Yeah it lost it in the bag :thumbdown But it seems to be recovering quickly so fingers crossed. I know what you mean about the fake coral...when I saw the original picture on LA I brought to mind those silicone fluorescent corals you see at Petco LOL.

Let me know when you are in town.

Wow, the spath looks really nice Erik. Glad I found this thread, your tank looks great. Looking forward to seeing it first hand.

How long have you had your latz? How old do you think it is? Do you have a pair? Nice wrasse btw!

I have two which I obtained about two years ago. The first was the store pet of Mark at BlueZoo. I believe she must be about 5 now. She is a survivor! When the first Latz were shipped from Australia, many/most suffered from a bacterial infection that would attack the eyes. Most died and the few that survived became blind. She is blind in one eye which is why she became the store pet. Mark learned about my established SPS reef and entrusted me with her well being :) I also purchased another smaller one along with her in hopes that they would pair up. While they coexisted peacefully for about a year, they never paired up. I assume its because I missed the window of opportunity with the smaller one and it too was already female.

Then about a year ago I went on a trip and returned to find the larger female was all beat up and hanging around at the top of the tank. The smaller one was beating her up pretty bad. Ever since they have been separated.

Similar story with why I have two Leuk clowns living in two separate tanks

First purchase of 2011! Two pairs of Hawaiian Harlequins collected (as pairs) in the rubble fields close to shore. Here are some photos of the larger pair:

Very cool. What are you doing for food for them?

Part of the reason I wanted them was to take care of the mini stars that seem to be in plague proportions in my tank these days. I have seen them go to work on a few already. Will probably add a choc chip star once in a while for good measure.
