aggresive copperband butterflyfish

Hi,

In my 100 gallon tank I mostly have all younger fish all but a large CBB and mature firefish.

Problem is I see the CBB chasing around the firefish during the feeding time, and when there's no food, firefish stays in a burrow the entire time. This only recently happened after 6 months of putting them together.

Is this a normal behavior? How would I make things better for the firefish?

Your Copperband Butterfly is aggressive? Never heard of or seen that before. What do you feed it? Try feeding the butterfly what it eats before feeding the firefish something the CBB doesn't eat like plankton or finely chopped crab or krill. That is if your CBB won't eat those foods. In the wild, firefish live in groups feeding of of fine or chunky planktonic particles and each have a hole they dart into when threatened or stressed. Maybe the presence of a larger fish that eats aggressively is threatening to the firefish?

I had a small one once that ate like a pig but would chase my jawfish back into there holes when ever they came out to eat. My large one that I have had for 10+ years is very docile.

I also have one that is chasing my firefish. Poor little guy won't come out now. I hope the CBB stops soon. He eats black worms all the time. Little pig. I will get rid of it if it does not stop being aggressive. This has been going on for 2 days now.
