AI Controller vs. RKL w/module ??

I have been researching controllers for what seems like weeks, but I cannot find answers to a couple of questions. I have an AI Sol Blue Nano, and I want a controller for it. From what I can tell, the AI controller is a good one, but I am also planning on getting a ReefKeeper Lite.

1) Can I use the ALC module with the RKL? I have found that it can be used with the Plus and Elite, but nothing that categorically states that it can be used with the Lite model as well.

2) Assuming the answer is yes, does this provide me with the same level of control that I would get using the AI controller?

I like the idea or the RKL just because I can have a failover for my heater as well as an easy way to turn off pumps/skimmers during feeding and water changes, but I also want to get the most out of my lighting. The RKL plus the ALC module is almost the same price as the RKL and the AI Controller, so that's a push.

Any and all opinions are welcomed "“ thanks in advance.

Hi. I'm in the same boat you were in JAnuary. I'd like to run AI SOL from my RKE ALC module. Did you ever make the purchase and set it up ??

Thanks.

Yes you can contol them with the RKL plus ALC. The ALC will only control the whites and both blues together and you also need to buy a special adapter and splice wires. The AI controller lets you control whites, blues, and royal blues independently; it's the better option.

I went with the AI controller, and I'm glad I did. The cost of the AI controller is roughly the cost of the ALC module, and as mentioned, the AI controller gives you more control.
