AI Hydra 52 cutting in and out

Has anyone had any issues with their Hydra 52s turning off and on?

This started happening to me today. My units have been installed for exactly 1 month and have been running at <50% for only two weeks. Now, only on unit will turn off randomly for a few minutes and then turn back on...and has been repeating this for a few hours.

Any thoughts? All I can think of is a bad connection somewhere in the wiring. I plan to call AI tomorrow to inquire about this and see what remedies they can provide (units still under warranty).

Yeah half my post got omitted.

The unit was installed a month ago and had been running <50% for two weeks.

I'm using the wireless controller. My other unit is working perfectly (knock on wood).

They have been running <50% for two weeks. ... [Not certain why all my posts are getting hacked to bits and only certain things are going through.]

At this point in time you may want to wait for AI, but if you want to give it a try I would hold down the button on the unit that is giving you problems and rediscover it. Just a thought it may or may not work...

Well, it appears to have stopped once the ramp down began last night. Plan is to monitor more to see if maybe it was a fluke. But I've had a T5 HO ballast do something similar and it's crapped out sooner than it should.

Also, I would check the cooling fan on the unit. If it's not working, once the fixture heats up it will turn itself off, until it cools down and then turn back on again.

So it turns out the fans weren't running at all. I pulled the units and one had one blade broken off and jammed in the fan, the other (the one that was working and then began this issue yesterday) had two fan blades broken off, one wedged in the casing and the other was the phantom piece of plastic I removed during a water change. I will be contacting AI to see about a replacement [part] as these units are 1 month old.

I've removed the blade guards and reinstalled and all is working well so far.
