AI Prime. How much is too much?

I currently have two AI Primes on my 40 breeder but they are only 50 watts each. I won a third AI Prime in a raffle and was wondering if that would be too much lighting for that tank. The two I'm running now are set to pretty high intensity and I'd like to get better growth on my SPS.

Should be fine unless you don’t like the way it looks. I would dial them down at first when the third one is added and slowly bring them back up. Many people run either two primes or a hydra 26, which is a single fixture with two prime pucks, over a biocube 29 which is only 19” wide. A 40 breeder is 36” so it will work. You will have less shading too. BRS did a video of multiple primes to grow sps you can find on google.

When you say you are running 2 Primes already at a "pretty high intensity" what exactly are your settings for running just the two primes. Curious.

119,109,98,99,4,4,17 2 hours ramp up, 8 hours full intensity and one hour ramp down.

That's a lot of light (in terms of power and duration). I run a pair of hydra 26 HDs on the 18K default setting on my 90. I agree though that the extra Prime won't hurt anything.

Installed the new light at 50% power in acclimation mode. The coverage in lighting is much better now. I didn't realize how many dark spots I had until adding this third light.
