AI SOL controller

I have the most difficult time setting up the timers. I set timer one to come at 10 am and adjust all the intensities of the lights. Where does it indicate what time timer one goes off at? Thanks

I just got my sol blues this week and have terrible time with that controller. Timers are little different from what I'm used to with how you normally set on and off times. You never really set timer one to turn off, you set up next timer (two) and program it to what you want. So if you had timer one come on at say 9am, then if you went to to timer two and set all the intensities to 0% at 9pm the lights would turn off at 9pm. You have something like 14 timers so you can go through the day changing itensities. Hope that made sense.

Controller is very easy to set up with the times and ramp time. If yours did not have directions go to AI website I believe it is customer support it has a PDF file and it will walk you step by step through it. Took me maybe 10 minutes to set all up after I read it

There is not an "Off" setting for the AI controller. The current timer setting goes off when the next timer starts. For example, you set timer 1 to start at 10 am with intensity settings of 40/50/50, ramp time of 10 minutes, no lunar cycle. If you want the lights at this setting for eight hours, then go to moonlight setting, you set timer 2 to come on at 6pm (8 hours after timer 1 start time), intensity settings 0/3/3 (or whatever) with your choice of ramp and lunar. Then when 10 am the next day rolls around, timer 1 starts again.

The next timer setting "on" time is the previous timer setting "off" time.

If you want to run the AIs for 10 hours and then off completely, set timer 1 to come on when you want, then start timer 2 ten hours later, but set the white, blue and royal intensity at "0%".

To turn a previously set timer off completely, when the W/B/R settings come up, make them all "-".

Thanks for the responses. I did download the pdf and read it through.

One other question I have is did you find the controller hard to read the text.

The text of the controller display is easy to read. What is a pain, IMO, is the knob, which can be very touchy. Easy to skip over settings and you have to go back to repeat.

I concur. Wish I could edit the bin file on my computer then copy it back to the controller and be done with it.

The text on the current controller is barely readable. Installed the ne firmware with out issue. Id I hold the controller at an angle I can make out the text. In the youtube videos it shows the text in the color white. Mine is black and I tried playing with the back lighting.

What color is the text suppose to be?

The text is a bluish white in color with a dark background on all three of my controllers.

My initial thought is that it sounds like you need to adjust the LCD display brightness setting, but you said you already tried playing with the back lighting? From the Owner's Manual:

To change LCD brightness, select the Other menu and press down the knob. Turn the knob to select the desired brightness level. Push down on the knob to save the new settings.

If you have tried all of the above plus a firmware update and it is still unreadable, then you probably have a defective unit and need to cal AI for help. They will probably replace it if the controller is new.

I have to say the controller sucks and for 100 bucks they should have done better job at designing the controller at least use buttons that can easily be adjust. The knob is too sensitive one slight touch and it select the level at something else. Also the timers are confusing they should have off hours so it makes it easier to read but after going through a post I finally get how to do it I hope they will improve this on the vega version.
