AI Sol on the fritz

Running 2 for 5 months now. NOTHING has changed but all of a sudden, one is not responding to the controller and has a mind of its own.

Anyone have a similar problem?

Waiting to hear back, just trying to troubleshoot. Checked an rechecked everything this am. Nothing unplugged. No power outage, or surge. No water exposure. Just doing its own thing. VERY odd!

Is it always the same one that is acting haywire. When you changed the primary ( first unit plugged into controller) did it change which unit was acting up? If it is always the same unit I would assume the circuit board on that unit is defective, if it changes based on how they are plugged into the controller it would be a controller issue. Do you have the latest firmware on the controller, probably wont help much but I am guessing that will be one of the first thing AI tech support is going to ask. Keep us updated on how AI tech support responds, I haven't read to much about failures so Tech support may not be truly tested.

No, the one unit is fine regardless of weather it's the primary or the linked one.

Latest firmware came out like 3 weeks ago I believe, so I don't have it yet. This definitely smells like its just an issue with the fixture itself.

Called AI and sent email. Waiting to hear.

I had a bad cable I replaced and it fixed the problem. My controller went nuts and it turned out to be the cable in the middle of my AI's.

Pretty quick response time. A series of emails to diagnose the issue. Seems the mother board may be toasted. They are sending me a new one free. What caused it, I've no idea.

Glad to hear that they are taking care of you. I have been running 4 AI Sol units for almost a year now with no issues so far. I am planning on upgrading to a bigger tank later this year and will need to add 2 more units. All the positive feedback I see here really helps to put my mind at ease...especially when it comes time to shell out some more money when I decide to add more lights. :spin3:
