I understand the profiles, although I am about run out of them (16 is not enough IMO). I know that Curt says he will be adding more....
Anyway, I like the programmability of the Apex and I agree with most of the examples that you gave, but......
With both my ACIII and the Apex, I have had issues with integration. What I mean by that is that when I begin setting up equipment, including my new Tunze 6105's tonight, I change a parameter and it doesn't take affect right away...sometimes. It sometimes makes a change and sometimes it doesn't. This happens with the AI control as well as the Tunze control etc. I have been successful for many years with the Neptune products and that is why I went with the Apex rather than changing. Many of the same issues remain.
Specifically back to the AI control, when I changed parameters in a given profile, sometimes the lights change and sometimes they don't...at least right away. It seems that there is a random timer that takes changes to the program and loads them to the embedded controller and executes them. The issue that I have is that it is random. so random that I have to sometimes unplug the entire Apex or ACIII system, plug it back in and get it to reboot before it takes (executes) the changes I made.
With the AI controller, changes are real time and therefore setting up the amount of Royal Blue light, Blue light and White light that I want is straight forward and consistent. Takes much less time than going through the programming necessary on the Apex to get it to work consistently. My plan in the end though is to implement the settings that I have on the AI controller on the Apex, when the 3 channel firmware is available. This is because I have found that having more Royal Blue than Blue is a much more appealing look.
BTW, the trouble I have had setting up my Tunze's tonight is very strange. I copied your profiles and outlets verbatim last week and programmed my Apex at that time. I received my Tunze's today and plugged them in and .....they didn't work. Well, one of them had constant output. Found that profiles were being automatically put into outlets that I didn't even edit/use. I had to implicitly "Set OFF" for each of them to eliminate the issues before the VDM variable speed ports started to operate in a logical manner. Still have some issues, but I have deviated from the thread topic more than enough already.
