Ailing Angel

What's the 1.10 dip. Never heard that. If you want a rince dip just take more tank water out and rinse him in that after. Really no need at all can go right back to tank.

It is q quick dip after 45 in the formalin. Since I just got a small (10ml) from my LFS, I went online for directions and this is what I found:

Prepare another container, preferably with lowered salinity 1.010 ppm water. This will be used to give fish a quick dip in after they have been taken out of the treatment water, which will assist in removing weakened or dead parasites, mucus or other unwanted organic matter from the fish before placing them into the QT.

Here is the link to the whole:

A new sympton, change in behavior.

She is now swimming at the top of the tank and gasping at air outside of the water. Here is a short video clip.

I think she is on the way out and I am thinking about a method of euthanasia.

Ya this fish is a goner. Maybe formalin was too much but healthy fish would have made that. You sure your ammonia level is ok in that tank.?

Oh. Well you have 2 probable choices here. Either ammonia poisoning or parasite finally getting to this fish most likely.

Or this was something way beyond all of this with central nerve system etc. And internal. It could have had internal parasite which would have needed metrodonizole. But in the water mixed would not be as good as feeding it and it wasn't eating so that's an issue. Infact the fish not eating at all for week or longer probably was real bad sign from get go

I would still do the formalin bath (you have nothing to lose). But don't use ammonia stop in the bath and don't put her in lowered salinity afterwards.

And I would go 30 mins max here maybe dose three qtr strength she's struggling. I wouls also do a major water change in qt

Last night she was last seen at the top of the tank nose out of the water and spinning on her tail. She was perpendicular to the bottom.

I decided at that time that she was definitely on the way out and decided on euthanasia. It wasn't an easy decision, but I think that the treatments, at the end were causing her more distress than good. RIP

Humblefish and Hedgedrew, thank you for your help and support.
