Aiptasia free tank?

I had it when I first started... Spot treated with Aiptasia X and bought a Peppermint Shrimp. I haven't seen any in a few years. Just gotta stay on top of it when you first see it.

i've had good luck with peppermint shrimp. brought 2 for my tank. aptesia gone within a week.

Battling a huge Aip problem now myself. I knew better than to trust that eBay coral. Was busy and didn't give it proper time in QT and BAM! Before I realized it, aip everywhere. Counteracting it with Aiptasia X and have ordered a filefish. Hopefully that will stop it in its tracks...

Slowly building a tank that was pest free. Got a zoo colony from swf. Inspected and nothing. Placed in tank and zoas finally opened up and looked nice. Did a night check tonight and saw 3 weird little filaments floating right above the closed polyps... weird so I get looking from every angle I can and sure enough 3 teeny, tiny, baby aiptasia so small they were unseeable between the polyps.

My predicament is how to kill these mini anemones... can't cover with paste, and can't boil them. Either method will kill the zoas clustered around them.

I have found Divers Den coral from Live Aquaria to always be pest free. Even so, I inspect each piece closely and do as others have said and remove frags from the plugs/rock they came in on and reattach to my own rock.

Maybe peppermint shrimp will work for you. I have had my coral in quarantine for a month and I haven't spotted any new aiptasia for the last two weeks. The last one I saw I buried in kalk paste and haven't seen one since. Knock on wood, fingers crossed etc.

Well I spoke too soon. Just did a water change in quarantine tank and was stirring up detritus from bottom of tank with turkey baster and I spotted another aiptasia about an 1/8 " tall. Very small but it has to be one. Bummer. That is one month after I first introduced the coral for it to show itself. Just about ready to dump the tank, sterilize it and start over:sad2:
