OK GROUP , HERE IS THE DEAL ... NEW TO THE HOBBY ECT , I FOUND THESE
2 COOL PALM TREE LOOKING THINGS ON ONE OF MY NEW ROCKS FROM MY
LFS , COME TO FIND OUT THEY ARE AIPTASIA ! ... NO BODY GOT TIME FOR THAT ... SO ON IMPULSE I TOOK MY BIG TWEEZERS AND RIPPED THE HEADS
OFF THEM AND MAJORITY OF WHAT SEEMED TO BE THE BODY , AFTER SOME
GOOGLE I COME TO FIND THAT WAS DUMB BECAUSE THEY MIGHT SPREAD THAT WAY ... SO MY QUESTION IS , HOW LONG TILL I FIND MORE OF THESE
PAINS IN THE SAND , AND DOING WHAT I DID IS THERE A CHANCE I DID A OK REMOVAL ? SAY IN A WEEK IF I DID NOT SEE ANY MORE AM I IN THE CLEAR OR SHOULD I GET SOME JOES JUICE ETC AND GO OVER THE HOLES
WHERE I PULLED THEIR HEADS OFF ??? ANY INFO WOULD BE GREAT . CHEERS ! :fish1:

If you're doing a fish only with live rock system you could get a raccoon butterfly. I have one that has declared war on anything that resembles anemones, so much so that when I give it a rock covered in aptasia with in days its been "licked" clean.

Chemical solution is AiptasiaX, for biological solution is peppermint shrimp or berghia nudibranchs. Also why did you type in CAPS LOCK?

I prefer caps ?? SWEET I WILL TRY OUT AIPTASIA X , HEY EAST LAKE IF I INTEND TO GET A ANEMONE FOR MY MAROON CLOWN WOULD THE BUTTERFLY FISH FIND THAT AS A SNACK ? SO DOES ANY ONE KNOW IF THAT HAS HAPPEND WHERE YOU REMOVE THE HEADS ON THEM THEY SPRED OR DOES THAT USUALY KILL THEM ? SO FAR I HAVE NOT SEEN ANY NEW ONES POP UP .

Haha .. Well thanks you guys rock ! I will keep an eye out on the tank and if any thing new pops up ill do the reccommend of aipx .. Thanks ! Have a awsome weekend !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The problem with a lot of aiptasia medicines is that you need to get it DIRECTLY into the anemones mouth. The second you touch them with the tube they will try to hide, making this a bit difficult. Also this is much harder on small anemones, which still need to be treated. If you do choose to go this route you will need to be patient and thorough.

When you tore their heads off they probably released spores in your tank but you probably won't see baby aiptasia for about 2 - 3 months. When you try killing aiptasia if you leave one cell behind in the water they will grow from that so it's actually almost impossible to eradicate them by physical means.

Ok so the plan is since there are none large enough to hit with a syringe I am going with a filefish to help combat any new ones that may pop up in the future . A peppermint shrimp would just make a nice snack for the Australian tusk . If in the event I do see a large one I will have some Joe's juice on hand as well as a turkey baster with hot water ready for action LOL

Get some peppermint shrimp and nuke the big ones with either boiling water in turkey baster, or a syringe full of kalk. Haven't had a problem since.
