I finally solved my Aiptasia infestation and came up with a plan to keep it out of my tank FOREVER! I'm converting this tank to freshwater!

LOL been there, done that :lol2:

Had my last reef blow a seem and empty the contents of my beloved fish and corals into my living room. Gave up and went to fresh. Had a 125G very successful mbuna cichlids tank:

But if I was totally honest I had NOWHERE near the passion for it, and ended up finding it pretty boring. It's just TOO easy, and the fish just don't have those personalities we've come to love. So it was back to reefing for me, and even with its dreaded GHA, valonia and Aptasia, I couldn't be happier ::thumbsup:

Sorry to see you leave the hobby, but best of luck to ya:wavehand:

Go for a planted tanks. I have several FW planted tanks and enjoy all of them. Search nature aquarium to seem the possibilities of what can be done with FW. Quite amazing and beautiful!

Go watch the "the green machine" planted tanks. I was a FW person and the planted tanks are the way to go! Chichlid tanks are fine but planted tanks are the mid step between! Go for it! I understand, if the fun doesn't out way the work it is time to make a change, but hopefully one day you will get the bug again! Good luck!

I have two tanks - a 120 and a 125. The 125 I am converting, the 120 I'll keep salt. 2 tanks is just too much maintenance. A friend of mine is also encouraging me to go planted. He sent me pics of his they are very nice. Might be the way to go.

I actually find high tech planted tanks to be more difficult than a reef tank. I don't know why, just feels like they require so much damn maintenance.

A nice low tech tank is pretty easy once you get it going though. I've had mine for 6 years now and, frankly, I barely give it any love any more. The plants are wild and the fish are as happy as ever.

As someone who keeps both, I fully agree that fresh water is much, much easier than marine environments. There is a much different beauty in freshwater tanks. I really like my goldfish "pond" however. They are living in my basement in a hard plastic childrens wading pool. Every one of my 7 comets has a different personality and actually can recognize me. They ignore my wife and anyone else that comes over to look at them, but they come to the surface when they see me. I love it.

Good luck with your conversion and you're right, that is a permanent solution to aiptasia!
