My aiptasia are large. I've used lemon juice concentrate, and boiling water via syringe. They retreat, smoke a little, and the next day seem fine. What's next to try?
I've had large... very large aips in my tank. fought them for years!
I finally read a tip here on RC that helped me dearly!!!
Get (if you don't have) hypodermic needle and use your choice of fatality (I used lemon juice).. when ready to inject, go in slowly.. put the needle as close to mouth as you can.. wait for aip to wrap its tentacles around needle.. then put needle in its mouth SLOWLY.. then start to slowly inject the aip. It doesn't register the poison right away & gives you the time to really get them injected! :bounce3:
the tentacles disappear right in front of your eyes.. kinda disgusting  sometimes they grow back.. if they do.. inject again in the stalk or when the tentacles are just stumps.
This should def work.. and if you have peppermints.. they will usually eat the stumps..
GOOD LUCK! :bounce3:
Take a plastic pipette, make up some kalkwasser paste (pickling lime and a little water). Make it thick as you can but thin enough it can go in and out of the pipette. With a slow and steady hand put the tip right at the aiptasia's mouth and then unload. :uzi:
If you get it in there and then all over it they will melt away almost instantly. Repeat the next day on any that happen to survive. I had a bunch come in with some coral I got from another reefer and eliminated them completely this way :blown:.
I don't use Kalkwasser - I use Bulk Reef 2 part. Do you mean pickling lime like I can get at the grocery store for canning pickles? I have a large 1/1/2" dia. syringe (no needle) just pointed tip that should work.
Next question - I have 9 large ones - can I do all at once or will that put too much lime/decaying matter in tank at one time. Or should I do one every few days?
I use the aptasia x but similar to the Leno juice you gotta wait for them to wrap around the syringe and try to make sure you cover the entire thing or as much as you can or else theyll come back
