Aiptasia?

First time I looked in my sump closely in a while, and noticed this guy sitting near the low water line in the return area:

This is an aiptasia, yeah? I see one or two others on the small rubble I have in there.

There aren't any in the display, but I have 4 peppermint shrimp.

I think my sump's turned into a bit of a cryptic zone.

Yes. You'll want to inject it with kalk paste, boiling water, lemon juice or a commercially available aiptasia killer.

Right - so it (well, they) is in my sump. No sign of them at all in the display.

Is there any reason to kill them off if they're contained in the sump? I know people tend to go on murderous rampages about them, but I figure they're just another filter feeder so long as they stay out of the DT.

You want to take care of these guys before they can spread to the DT. You can use Aiptasia killer, lemon juice, and boiling water to take care of ones and twos. But if they become a problem, then you can always get some Peppermint Shrimps to take care of them.

man, the reason why you don't spot them up in the display tank is because of the peppermint shrimps.my suggestion is: as long your shrimps live no problem keeping it in the sump. In any case if you'd wish to get rid of it just bring the shrimps down, they'll the job immediately. no need for aiptasia killers they will rise you ph significantly...

I have some Aiptasia-X on order; I'll watch the DT carefully for any signs that the peppermints aren't doing their job and break it out if so.

Thanks
